LOUISVILLE – Louisville Central Community Centers (LCCC), Inc. and partners invite family leaders, community stakeholders, and employers to its first Economic Mobility Summit. The goal is to engage the west Louisville community in conversation about solutions to issues that get in the way of economic success for individuals and families+. The LCCC mission seeks to empower and influence self-reliance amongst families in Russell and the community-at-large.
The LCCC conference is designed to equip family leaders for personal, professional, and community success. The Economic Summit will be held on Friday, October 20th from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Old Walnut Street Family Strengthening Center, 1300 West Muhammad Ali Blvd.
“We understand, ‘Started from the bottom,’ now we’re here,” says Paulisa Lewis, Beecher Terrace resident. Paulisa recently started college after attending a workforce event convened by LCCC. She assisted with the planning for the event and suggested this catchy tagline – ‘Started from the bottom’ – as the summit theme. It is derived from the hit rap song, “Started from the Bottom” by Drake, a hip hop recording artist.
“We know that the community must have a seat at the table when it comes to creating solutions that affect them. No question, area residents have a seat at LCCC”, said Patricia Williams, Adult Program Coordinator. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in workshops on money management, overcoming barriers to success, transitioning from a job to a career, and to attend a resource fair.
“The Economic Mobility Summit is part of a summit series on family strengthening solutions. The summits are designed to address barriers that family leaders face as they seek to access knowledge and skills necessary to secure livable wage-earning opportunities,” said Kevin Fields Sr., president and CEO at LCCC.
